Blizzard has announced the return of the yearly Summer Games event to hero shooter Overwatch.

As promised last week, it's here a little earlier than usual but now also includes new weekly challenges. Winning games in Quick Play, Competitive Play or the Arcade will get you some bonus epic skins, sprays and icons for Reaper in week 1, Mei in week 2 and Reinhardt in week 3.

The gamemode Lucioball has returned, which sees teams of three competing to get a ball into a goal, and of course as in previous years you can still earn a bunch load of seasonal gear from this and other years via lootboxes by opening them during the games.

The event kicked off yesterday, and runs through until August 5 in Overwatch for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Here's the trailer:
