Developer Red Barrels has today unveiled plans to bring its popular first person horror series Outlast to the Nintendo Switch in the first quarter of 2018.

An update post on their official Facebook page mentioned this while detailing their current plans for the future of the series. In it, the developer confirmed that it has no plans to make an Outlast 2 DLC, but promises answers to that game’s story in Outlast 3, when they make that which they say will happen as well as pointing towards a tie-in comic book that features an epilogue of sorts.

Before any third game however, Red Barrels is currently working on something that has apparently been much requested by fans, although they’re remaining coy as to what that specifically is saying ‘It won’t be a sequel to Outlast or Outlast 2, but it will be a distinct experience set in the Outlast universe.’ – is an Outlast VR game a safe bet, perhaps?

For now, the developer says that it’s working on porting ‘the Outlast franchise’ to Nintendo Switch which we presume to mean Outlast 1, 2 and the Whistleblower DLC for the first game, to be released in the first quarter of 2018.
