After clinging onto its life for longer than anyone expected – gamers got several more hours on Halo 2 than they thought they would – the Xbox LIVE service for the original Xbox finally got shut down last night.
Launched back in 2002, Xbox LIVE ushered in a new era of online console gaming and will be remembered with great fondness by many.
In celebration of the service, Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE team – Major Nelson included – had a bit of a get together and remembered LIVE with some cake, a special Xbox LIVE cake.
