Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Rare’s head of production Lee Schuneman has been discussing the development of Banjo-Tooie.
Fans of the original Banjo Kazooie will be pleased to hear that the same team that worked on that game are at the helm for the follow-up on the Xbox 360.
“The team that are doing it are the guys that did the original Banjo Kazooie, so they’re probably more passionate about it than the kids that have bought the game,” said Schuneman.
Schuneman also notes that Gregg Mayles, creative director on Banjo-Tooie and the original, is “passionate to maintain the Banjo vibe and what it was all about,” but at the same time is keen to try new ideas.
“There are elements that are going to be very different; I don’t think people are going to expect it,” said Schuneman. “We’ve got a lot of work to do on getting the new ideas that the team have come up with to be right and playable and fun. And the team is making good progress with that.“
Rare is also working on lots of other projects, but Schuneman won’t reveal what at this time, merely stating that they’ll talk about it when they’re ready.
