The Forest is a new open-world first-person survival horror game which is planned for release on PC and Oculus Rift, and it looks like a pretty interesting concept.

The new title from SKS Games – run by former visual effects artist Ben Falcone – is still pre-alpha, but is hoping to be approved for a Steam release via Greenlight.

As the lone survivor of a plane crash, players are stranded in a living, breathing forest and must use its resources in order to survive. Chop down trees to build a camp and start a fire, scavenge for food, plant seeds to grow crops and build defences to guard against the dangers of the night.

You’ll need to craft weapons in order to defend yourself against a clan of cannibalistic mutant enemies.

An alpha is planned for later this year.

If you’re interested then show your support over on Steam Greenlight.
