A number of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS players have reported receiving 136-year bans.

The game’s automated tech to combat in-game griefing – designed to prevent the aggressive targeting of a specific player during group games – seems to have developed a glitch causing it to dish out a game ban for 71,582,030 minutes, 71,582,015 minutes more than the standard 15 minute ban.

This equates to a staggering 136-years.

Nintendo is yet to comment on the error, but it seems likely such lengthy bans will be rescinded once the mistake is discovered.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U recently had its release date brought forward to November 28.
