OlliOlli developer Roll7 is working on a new “multi-platform, multiplayer-focused” IP due for release in 2017, it was announced today.

The game will be published by 505 Games and will be a “brand new concept” described as a “complete departure for the studio”, tapping into “one of the biggest current gaming trends”.

“We have been impressed with Roll7’s work for a long time and have admired what they’ve accomplished under their own steam,” said 505 president Ian Howe. “We jumped at the chance to support them when they were looking to take the next step up with their most ambitious project to date.”

“We have been impressed with 505’s approach to signing our next IP, they have been flexible, open and professional throughout the process,” addedRoll7 director Simon Bennett. “Our newly expanded team are excited and raring to move into full production in the next couple of months.”

As well as developing the OlliOlli franchise, Roll7 also worked on 2D side-scrolling shooter Not A Hero. The developer has yet to say when it will be revealing its new game in full.
