Fantastic news for Wii owners – Capcom is bringing its critically acclaimed masterpiece Okami to Nintendo’s console in spring 2008.
The game, which first appeared on PS2 in 2006, will feature a re-imagined control scheme built around the Wii Remote. In a statement Capcom said Okami on Wii is “sure to be the ultimate version of the game“.
Defeating monsters will require both motion-controlled physical attacks but also use of the Wii Remote as sun god wolf Amaterasu’s ‘Celestial Brush’ to paint the desired powers for decimating enemies and solving puzzles.
Wii owners will be delighted with the news. Okami’s paint-brush style gameplay and wonderful Japanese art design should lend itself perfectly to Nintendo’s motion-controlled console.
With Okami’s original developer Clover Studio now closed, the Wii version is in the hands of Ready at Dawn Studios, the team behind PSP games God of War: Chains of Olympus and Daxter.
We’ll bring you more on this exciting development as we get it.
