Sony and Nike have gotten all chummy with the announcement of a new PlayStation-branded basketball shoe. The flashy footwear, dubbed the Nike PG2, includes the iconic PlayStation and Nike logo, along with lace locks kitted out in the same colours as the DualShock controller buttons.

What’s more, the logos featured on the shoe’s tongue are battery-powered, meaning they can light up at the touch of a button. Apparently, this is meant to represent the DualShock’s light bar, and packs around 150 hours worth of battery life.

The Nike PG2 will be worn by NBA dynamo Paul George, who plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder, and is apparently a major PlayStation aficionado to boot. ‘I just had a knack for video games,’ said George, before reminiscing about a Christmas Day gift that turned out to be a PS2. ‘I’ve been a PlayStation guy ever since,’ he insisted.

‘One thing that they (Sony) provided, which was really cool, was the starry graphic from the dynamic theme that will be available for your PlayStation 4 with a code from the shoe. It’s a beautiful graphic, so we made it the sock liner,’ commented designer Tony Hardman.

The limited edition Nike PG2 will go on sale on February 10 for $109.99.
