Just Add Water will “take a serious look” at releasing Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD on Xbox 360 if rumours suggesting that developers will soon be able to self-publish titles on the console turn out to be true.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com following claims that Microsoft’s plans for self-publishing on Xbox One may also arrive on Xbox 360 as early as next month, JAW CEO Stewart Gilray said that “it wasn’t us that didn’t want to publish Stranger’s Wrath HD on the 360, [it] was MS that did NOT want us to publish it on there, so if things do change with MS and we are ‘allowed’ to publish digitally on that system, then we take a serious look at it.”

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD was said to have been denied a release on Xbox 360 after Microsoft reportedly told the developer that it didn’t want the game on Xbox LIVE Arcade.

The title was also refused a release on Microsoft’s Games on Demand platform because it would have been sold at a lower price than the platform’s minimum $20 requirement.

“We have ALWAYS been willing to publish on the system, it’s Microsoft’s policies that have prohibited us,” Gilray says.

He adds that Just Add Water has not yet received any “concrete confirmation” of Microsoft’s self-publishing program being adopted on Xbox 360.

Microsoft announced plans to allow self-publishing on Xbox One last week, with more details to be revealed during next month’s Gamescom.

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD, an updated version of the original Xbox title, launched on PC back in December 2010 with a PS3/PS Vita release following last year.
