A reboot of PSOne classic Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee will release in summer 2013, Oddworld Inhabitants has announced.
The game, which was originally announced last year, was previously announced as an HD update of the classic side-scrolling puzzle-platformer.
However, it’s now due to receive a total reboot under the eyes of British developer Just Add Water.
“Ok so here’s the skinny on Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee,” said Oddworld Inhabitants on its official Facebook page.
“We decided to reboot it, not just an HD update to the original PS1 title, this is a NEW game.
“It will be getting it’s first public showing LATER this year, with a release date of NEXT summer (2013).”
Formats for the reboot are yet to be announced.
In addition to the Abe’s Oddysee reboot, Just Add Water is currently also developing PlayStation Vita versions of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath and Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee.
