Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus is being remade for HD platforms, Oddworld Inhabitants has announced.

The game promises to be a “full ground-up remake” of the 1998 sequel, with visuals likely to be similar to last year’s Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty.

“We get asked every day whether this is going to happen so it’s nice to finally be able to say that this is indeed our intention,” said Oddworld.

“Rest assured that the Wii U and PlayStation Vita versions of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty are still in development and are planned for release later this year. The PlayStation 3 version is in the very final stages of development and it will be out very soon.”

Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus launched on PS1 and PC over 16 years ago as a sequel to original Oddworld title Abe’s Oddysee. It was followed up a few years later by Munch’s Oddysee and Stranger’s Wrath.

A release date for the Abe’s Exoddus remake has yet to be announced.
