Nvida lifted the wraps off its lineup of next-generation video cards during a press conference at Gamescom yesterday.

The RTX 2070, RTX 2080, and RTX 2080 Ti will all launch on September 20, and utilise Turning GPU architecture and have the capability of pumping out ray tracing technology, hence the RTX moniker. In this respect, the Turning tech is roughly four times faster than Volta workstation GPUs.

If that all sounds a little bit too technical (it is for me, anyway), it basically means that they'll make games look super lovely, which is what you would expect for a card that costs around $1000. Well, that's the most expensive one, anyway; the RTX Ti will retail for grand, while the RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 will set you back $500 and $700, respectively.

Nvidia also flexed the technical prowess of its new cards with some live demos of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Metro: Exodus, Assetto Corsa, and Battlefield V during the presser.

Thanks to ray tracing technology, games will be capable of displaying more realistic global illumination, and can accurately calculate reflections and light sources that exist outside of screen space.

At this point it's probably better I stop waffling on and let you see for yourself just how the RTX series will inject some serious eye candy into your gaming experience.
