Nvidia Shield’s Console Mode has been upgraded to support 1080p 60FPS when outputting compatible PC games to a TV.

Console Mode streams high quality PC games (from your PC) to the Shield controller which in turn can output via HDMI to a TV. Games which support the full 1080p 60FPS experience include Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Batman: Arkham Origins, Battlefield 4, BioShock Infinite, Borderlands 2, Crysis 3, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

While Console Mode is pretty cool tech, it’s a shame you need a wired Ethernet connection and can’t simply make use of wireless. It is, however, early days for such streaming services and something which is sure to improve in the coming years.

The other obvious question is why not simply plug your computer directly into the TV?
