Call of Duty: Black Ops’ most famous multiplayer map ‘Nuketown’ is being reimagined for this November’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – and it’ll be free to everybody who pre-orders the shooter from GAME, Activision has announced.

Renamed ‘Nuk3town’, the classic map is said to have been “refreshed for a new generation of gameplay” designed to take advantage of Black Ops 3’s wall-running movement system. It’ll be set 50 years in the future in the year 2065.

Nuketown previously appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops and was re-released as a downloadable map called Nuketown 2025 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

“The Nuketown maps have a special place in Call of Duty multiplayer history and we can’t wait to build upon that heritage in Black Ops 3,” said Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia. “We carefully adapted the design of the map to make sure that it fit with our new movement system, but to also make sure that we retained the spirit and the fun that made fans fall in love with it in the first place.”

The map has currently only been confirmed for PS4, Xbox One and PC, suggesting it may not be due to arrive on Xbox 360 or PS3.

We also don’t know whether it will be available to other players post-launch, either, but given the way Nuketown 2025 turned out, it’s probably safe to expect it to turn up at some point or another.
