Now! That’s What I Call Music compilations from record label EMI are to form a new Wii game, MCV has revealed.
New publisher Tubby Games will launch the dancing and singing title this November, but further titles in the series are planned.
Tubby Games features the team that worked on 2004’s PS2 dancing hit Dance:UK.
Strategic director Neil Meredith told MCV: “This all feels a bit Ocean’s Eleven – the team is back together and we have a hugely powerful music brand in Now.
“We’ve got the right licence, the right tracks and the right developer.”
The first game will feature ten singing and dancing tracks by Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal, Jason Derulo, Example, JLS, Rihanna and others, plus five bespoke hip-hop dancing tracks.
MCV research shows that over one million dancing games are sold each month globally.
Meredith concluded: “This isn’t about a quick volume sell-in, but extending the brand in the right way. We hope Now can repeat the success it has had in music in games.”
