NPD sales data for the month of June reveals continued strong sales of the Wii and DS with the PlayStation 3 once again bringing up the rear.

Sales of the Wii for June are reported to be 381,800 units, around double that of the Xbox 360’s 198,400 units and approximately four time that of the PS3’s 98,500 units. Even the Wii can’t hold a candle to Nintendo DS sales though; the mighty handheld notched up June sales of 561,900 units.

DS rival, the Sony PSP managed a respectable 290,000 units and Sony will be hoping the newly announced slim PSP will help close the gap to the DS in the coming months.

Software sales for June are also heavily Nintendo skewed, with Mario Party 8, Wii Play, Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl taking the top four respectively. Mario Party 8 took the top spot by well over 100,000 units, shifting 426,200 units compared to Wii Play’s 293,200.

Microsoft’s Forza Motorsport 2 takes fifth place with 197,400 units and is closely followed by Guitar Hero 2 on PS2 and Xbox 360, Pokemon Battle on Wii, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition and The Darkness for Xbox 360.
