Speaking to press at GDC, Double Fine Productions founder Tim Schafer revealed that while he has been thinking about how the gamer could switch between a standard controller and a guitar, he has no plans to offer guitar-based controls for upcoming title Brutal Legend.

Brutal Legend is a third-person action adventure game staring Jack Black in the role of roadie Eddie Riggs, who embarks on an epic quest to build an army of rockers with only a broad axe, a big block V8 and his guitar. With such a heavy rock influence the idea of using a guitar peripheral in the game has often been rumoured.

“I was trying to figure out how you would throw down the controller and pick up the guitar,” Schafer remarked, before adding that there are “no plans” for guitar-controller compatibility.

Brutal Legend is scheduled for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 this autumn.
