Crystal Dynamics has announced that Lara Craft and the Guardian of Light will launch for Xbox LIVE Arcade next week without support for online co-op.

The XBLA timed exclusive will offer same system cooperative play, with online support to be patched into the game on September 28 – the same day the title launches for PS3 and PC. The update will also introduce full leaderboards and voice chat.

Crystal Dynamics global brand director Karl Stewart told Joystiq: “We made a decision recently because we were focusing on how we can deliver the best possible experience to the players. If we had launched with online co-op, we wouldn’t feel comfortable that it was the best possible experience for the player.”

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will launch on August 18 as part of the Summer of Arcade promotion.
