Final Fantasy Versus XIII will not be shown at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura has revealed.

Interviewed in the 500th issue of Dengeki PlayStation, the renowned character designer – and director, for Versus XIII – has said there is a date set for its next reveal, however.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII – alongside XIII, XIII-2 and Type-0 – forms part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy series, first revealed in 2006. While Versus XIII is set in the same universe as Lightning’s adventures in FFXIII, the game is a totally independent experience.

During the interview, Nomura also mentioned something about Kingdom Hearts 3D, but translators have yet to work out exactly what was said.

There’s still no release date for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, but Final Fantasy XIII-2 – the direct sequel to last year’s Final Fantasy XIII – has been given a January 2012 release date. You can read my E3 preview of the game here.
