PES 2014 joins EA’s FIFA 14 in skipping Nintendo’s Wii U, PES community manager Adam Bhatti has confirmed.

Responding to a Twitter question, Bhatti said the game won’t be coming to Wii U because there is “no demand for it”.

The move means Wii U owners will only have last year’s FIFA 13 available if they wish to play a football title.

The Wii U isn’t the only platform missing out on PES this year. As well as skipping a release on PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS, Bhatti also confirmed PS4 and Xbox One won’t be getting PES 2014 either – albeit for very different reasons.

“Not in the business for highres nextgen ports,” he wrote. “We can’t and shouldn’t do that. Bad habit etc.”

“So the fact we’re not on PS4/Xbone with PES 2014 is simple. We can’t and shouldn’t be just using higher quality textures etc should be new.”
