Here’s a thing that’s happening: Nissan has announced plans to turn one of its cars into a controller capable of playing PES 2016.
Yep, a Nissan Qashqai capable of interfacing with a PlayStation to control Konami’s new football game. I’ve no idea why you’d ever want to play PES 2016 with a car. In fact, you’d think a car would be far better suited to, you know, a driving game. But there you go.
“Nissan’s Project Controller is an interactive expedition to turn a Nissan Crossover into a Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 controller – for the first time in the history of gaming,” reads a press release issued on behalf of Nissan. “Its mission is to drive football.”
“Nissan is the official global automotive sponsor of the UEFA Super Cup and UEFA Champions League, with a deal covering the periods from 2014/2015 to 2017/2018. With the Nissan Controller, fans will be once again at the heart of Nissan’s partnership. The Controller looks to engineer unexpected moments of fan excitement to enhance their experience of Europe’s most prestigious football competition. It plays on the excitement fuelling the automotive and football worlds to create an innovative experience.”
The controller is due to launch during the UEFA Champions League game between Malmo FF and Paris Saint-German on November 25, where fans will be able to “steer their favourite PES 2016 players and experience a gaming innovation never seen before”.
