The Game Developers Conference (GDC) has produced some interesting stuff this year, what with keynote speeches made by both Microsoft and Nintendo on the future of their next consoles, and tid-bits about the current technology around.

In addition to talking about the Nintendo DS, the trusty Gamecube also got some press-time, in the form of another trailer for the hotly-anticipated next addition to the Zelda franchise, and rumours started flying around that it would hit the US on 1st October.

Unsurprisingly, Nintendo scotched such stories with a firm statement. The Company said that, “We haven’t announced any potential release dates for the new Legend of Zelda title. Everything published to date is entirely speculation and we hope to announce more about the game at E3 in May.”

So there you have it. Nothing until E3 – hopefully. And so another non-newsworthy Nintendo rumour dies a death.

We’ll report more as it happens, indeed, if it happens.
