The reveal of a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was an exciting way for Nintendo to conclude its E3 Direct. An 86 second trailer was enough to get people thinking about what a BOTW 2 might look like.

There are many questions, theories, comments and queries being thrown around at the minute, but the one that keeps popping up is whether or not Zelda is a playable character. The video, which you can watch below, shows both Link and Zelda going through the underground caves of Hyrule, before coming across a spooky bastard of a mummy that comes alive. Some are thinking this might be a nod to co-op.

Kotaku asked The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma if you'll be able to play as Zelda in Breath of the Wild 2, and all he said was 'I can't tell you.' And then he chuckled.

So, it sounds like Nintendo knows, but they're not ready to tell anyone yet. Fans have been crying out for the chance to play as the princess in a mainline Zelda game, so here's hoping BOTW 2 is the one.
