We may hear more about the Wii U before E3, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has suggested to Spike.
“Essentially, we will be sharing information throughout the entire year,” said Fils-Aime at CES.
“I won’t say you’re going to have to wait until E3, but certainly we’re not breaking any news here; no launch date, no launch price, no game line-up. We will be sharing a whole lot of information all through the year on how we will be driving Wii U into households this year.”
Nintendo was at CES showing behind closed door demonstrations of Wii U, as seen at E3 last year.
Fils-Aime also assured fans that the launch line-up for Wii U would contain titles which “are going to drive the install base” of the platform.
Wii U is promised to hit stores later this year.
With the 3DS Nintendo chose to host a number 3DS preview events for press in early January 2011, so we could see something very similar taking place for Wii U – why share the stage with rivals when you can host a private event focussed entirely on your new product. An Easter event to deliver a better understanding of what Wii U is capable of would make sense, with E3 used to finalise launch details and pricing.
