The latest sales data from Famitsu, reported by MCV, shows that the Nintendo DS has now sold over 10 million units in Japan. It’s reached this figure in only 61 weeks – PlayStation 2 took 131 weeks – and has had continued supply issues.

In April the Nintendo DS sold some 702,844 units, more than four times that of its Sony rival the PSP.

Nintendo also continues to dominate home console sales with the Wii shifting a further 287,722 units. In contrast the PlayStation 3 managed only 71,247 while the Xbox 360 managed to eke out only 17,094 units.
