Wii U gamers with a broken console will be able to recover their Nintendo Network ID and related content to a new console, but only if Nintendo does it for you, reports Kotaku.
Until now it was assumed that Nintendo Network IDs attached to a Wii U console would be lost if the system failed, going down like the captain on a sinking ship. However, Nintendo has revealed IDs can in fact be saved.
“Nintendo of America’s repair process includes the transferring of the Nintendo Network ID to a new Wii U console if a replacement system is needed,” Nintendo told Kotaku.
Presumably this will be possible in Europe and Japan too, just don’t expect to be able to perform a transfer yourself.
