Nintendo’s next home console will launch in 2012, according to a note released to investors today alongside its 2011 financial statement.
A playable model will make an appearance at E3. Further details and game announcements can be expected then.
Currently codenamed Project Cafe, the Wii successor is reported to have high definition visuals and graphics on equal footing with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
What’s more interesting are the rumours of the controller, which is said to boast a 6.2 inch touch-screen that can stream content from the console itself.
Other than the codename and 2012 release date, no other details have been made available.
Rumours about the hardware’s existence have been circulating for months now, including a story last week of the Wii successor being primed for an E3 reveal.
