Follow yesterday’s news from Famitsu which confirmed the game’s existence, SEGA PR has now officially announced NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams for the Wii. The game is the long awaited sequel to the acclaimed NiGHTS franchise on the SEGA Saturn.

We plan to deliver a gameplay experience never before seen on the Wii with NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams,” said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. “The game takes full advantage of the unique Wii Remote controller enabling gamers to guide NiGHTS through spectacularly designed dream worlds intertwined with a story about hope and courage.

In the game players will take control of a fantasy jester called NiGHTS and fly though Nightopia, a world where dreams come to life, using the Wii Remote for a heightened sense of gliding, spiralling and looping.

The game will feature seven dream worlds, with players having to find inventive ways to confront the “Nightmares” from the neighbouring dark world of Nightmare.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is scheduled for release on the Wii during holiday season 2007.
