Acclaimed video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that the next Wii instalment in the Legend of Zelda franchise will make use of the Wii MotionPlus accessory.

“In this [instalment of the series], we’re using MotionPlus to make you feel much more like you’re actually fighting while holding a sword in your hand,” said Miyamoto at a recent Q&A session in Tokyo.

He added: “In the previous game, you aimed at things by pointing at the screen, but this time we’ll use MotionPlus to create a much more convenient targeting system and a more pleasurable playing experience.”

Miyamoto didn’t confirm if the new Zelda title will have a mandatory requirement for Wii MotionPlus or if the accessory will simply offer users an enhanced experience.
