First to Project Gotham. At the European Game Developers Conference last week Chris Pickford, the associate producer on Project Gotham Racing 3, said how the game was currently “up to about month 19-20” months in development and that the game is a “two year project.” This would suggest that there is still some four months left on development that could see the game slip from the planned release alongside the Xbox 360. Pickford could have just have been saying two years in a loose sense, not meaning exactly 24 months, but other sources seem to back up the delay concerns.
EA also has its doubts that Project Gotham 3 will make the launch. Microsoft has been giving EA all the help they need in order to get Need for Speed: Most Wanted out at launch. This has sparked rumours that they are only doing so because their own title won’t make launch. An article on TalkXbox.com has EA on record saying they believe Project Gotham 3 will not make launch.
“PGR3 is very ambitious, and from what they’ve seen it won’t make launch,” the article reads. “Most of them expect it to be in the second wave of 360 titles, along with Gears of War.” This is of course only the opinion of EA and nothing has been confirmed by Microsoft.
Now onto Sonic. According to Kikizo.com a next-generation game featuring Sega’s mascot will be on show at the Tokyo Game Show later this month, with an official announcement expected on September 9th. According to Kikizo the game will reflect what was shown at E3 back in May. The teaser trailer shown features Sonic racing through the jungle before being shot down by an army of mechanical enemies. Thankfully for all sonic fans the blue hedgehog re-appeared as Super Sonic and mashed up his mechanical foes.
We’ll bring you more on both games as more information comes to light.
