Next-generation consoles are “a quantum leap” over Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment has claimed, adding that the firm has already started work on a next-generation title.
Talking to GamesIndustry Germany (and translated by NeoGAF), the studio’s head of franchise development Oskari Hakkinen revealed that Remedy had already put “a relatively small team on a next-generation project”.
“One wonders all the time,” Hakkinen continued. “Can the new consoles really be that much better than the previous? Rest assured: they are, it is a quantum leap.”
20 people are believed to be working on Remedy’s next-gen title, although the studio has yet to confirm whether the game will be a Microsoft or Sony exclusive.
It’s not yet known whether the game will be another entry in Remedy’s Alan Wake series, either.
Hakkinen’s comments appear to contradict those of THQ CEO Brian Farrell.
Earlier this month, Farrell said that the focus of next-generation platform holders was not on a “humongous change” in graphics, but “opportunities in different types of business”.
Neither Sony or Microsoft have yet announced plans for their next-generation consoles.
