The next entry in the Batman Arkham franchise will release later this year, Warner Bros. has revealed.
Speaking during the firm’s Q4 2012 Results Earnings Call last week (transcribed by Seeking Alpha), Time Warner CFO John Martin revealed that the publisher will “have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise.”
The company’s fiscal year runs in parallel with the calendar year, so when Martin says “this year” he means 2013.
Further details on the game, including release dates and platforms have yet to be revealed, nor is it known whether developer Rocksteady Studios is still at the helm.
The untitled game will be the third title in the Arkham series, following the release of Batman: Arkham City in October 2011.
The series has achieved great critical and commercial success, with the two previous entries winning multiple Game of the Year awards from critics, as well as additional accolades, including a BAFTA award and a VideoGamer.com 10/10.
VideoGamer.com has contacted Warner Bros. and Rocksteady Studios for comment.
