Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation has signed an agreement with IGN Entertainment to buy the predominantly games based entertainment company for $650 million. IGN own sites such as IGN.com, Gamespy, TeamXbox, GameStats and many others. News Corp. plans to increase its online presence and IGN Entertainment will no doubt do that.

With the acquisition of IGN and its 28 million users, we have gone a long way toward achieving two of our key strategic objectives in our efforts to become a leading and profitable internet presence,” commented Murdoch.

IGN Entertainment’s Mark Jung commented: “We believe that Fox Interactive Media is an ideal fit with IGN Entertainment,” and that the company “can’t wait to get started.”
