Video games are often a very secretive business, with marketing bods planning exactly how and when information is delivered to consumers. However, occasionally something happens which scuppers these well made plans.
A reddit user’s eye was caught by some documents displayed on a laptop screen being used by a passenger on the Montreal subway. These documents turned out to be marketing materials for a yet to be announced Tomb Raider title, under the working title Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Oops.
Kotaku and Eurogamer have since independently verified that this game is indeed in development, only Tomb Raider studio Crystal Dynamics won’t be in charge. Sources have revealed that Eidos Montreal is creating Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which makes sense given the documents were seen on the Montreal subway.
Fear not though, as Eurogamer adds it has heard that Crystal Dynamics is also working on a new Tomb Raider title.
It’s not clear which studio’s title will come first, though Crystal Dynamics has had more time to work on a new game having seen Nixxes handle the PS4 Rise of the Tomb Raider port. Eidos Montreal on the other hand has only recently finished work on Deus Ex Mankind Divided.
