MTV Multiplayer reports that standing in a lift waiting for the next game area to load won’t form part of the Mass Effect 2 experience – a whole new system is in place.

Casey Hudson, executive director of Mass Effect 2 told Multiplayer: “We have a completely new system to handle transitions between areas that speeds the load times and turns the loads themselves into part of the game experience. It’s one of many points of feedback we’ve heard and directly responded to in enhancing the gameplay in Mass Effect 2.”

Unless elevators now form part of the game experience, that sounds like confirmation that elevator loading from the first game is a thing of the past.

Mass Effect 2 has been confirmed for release early in 2010 for PC and Xbox 360.
