Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that a new franchise from Rockstar Games is to be a PS3 exclusive. The news of the exclusive deal was first revealed on GameHead, but has now also been confirmed on SCEA’s official blog.
Michael Shorrock, Director of 3rd Party Relations at SCEA, made the blog post, stating: “… we’ve agreed to the PlayStation exclusive rights of the next great franchise from the Rockstar studios.“
So why not also bring the game to the Xbox 360? Shorrock notes that “Rockstar really wanted to make a game that you can truly only do on PS3, harnessing the power of CELL and Blu-ray disc“.
Shorrock also reveals that the franchise in question is not LA Noire, but something “all new“. No details about the new franchise can be announced at this time, but Sony says they’ll be sharing more info as soon as they can.
