Nexon has announced the introduction of a new ranking feature for its free-to-play online RPG, MapleStory Europe.

With the new system players can compete against each other courtesy of an online rankings database which lets people directly compare their progress against that of another player.

The rankings update on an hourly basis and are divided into Overall, World and Job categories. In addition, the top three fastest movers in each category are singled out for special recognition.

Additionally a fourth category, Fame, compares players on in-game popularity. Once players reach level 15 in the game they can allocate a fame point to any other player in the game on a once-a-day basis.

To celebrate the launch of the system MapleStory Europe will be running a Monster Invasion on September 10 at 18:00 BST. This event will last for one hour and will see floods of monsters descending on various towns across Victoria Island – the perfect opportunity to gain some experience and shoot up the rankings.
