Nintendo has today confirmed the July 4 European release date for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness. The two titles have already sold over 1.5 million units following their launch in Japan and North America and Nintendo will be hoping the European debut will bump this figure well above 2 million.
In the new adventures players will get the chance to live the life of a Pokémon, with a personality quiz at the beginning of the game determining which Pokémon they become – 16 Pokémon options are available including four from the smash hit Pokémon Diamond/Pearl. Players will also need to choose a Pokémon partner to support them throughout the adventure.
Players and their trusted sidekick will embark on an epic journey through limitless and randomly generated dungeons, uncovering mysteries to discover why they’ve become a Pokémon. Along the way players will discover that a Pokémon has travelled back in time to steal the precious Time Gears hidden in the farthest corners of the world. Players must build an exploration team to defeat this enemy and prevent the world from being plunged into darkness.
Players will also be able to send out an SOS mail to friends using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, the Nintendo DS wireless function or using a password. This Friend Rescue option allows any player who is defeated in a dungeon to issue a call for help, asking another team to enter the dungeon to make a rescue attempt. If successful the defeated team will not lose any money or items and will continue from where they fainted.
Players will also be able to access Wonder Mail to share dungeon missions and view any requests for advice from other players. It will also be possible to trade items and team members in the Trade Team section.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness are scheduled for launch across Europe on July 4.
