A new Need for Speed: Heat gameplay trailer was unveiled at Gamescom Opening Night Live, which detailed how the mechanics change through its day and night cycle, and showed off just how extensive the customisation options will be.
In Palm City, Florida, Need for Speed: Heat will offer the Speedhunter Showdown for daytime races and to earn bank to customise the car. The Palm City police department patrol the streets, but so long as you play by their rules, they’ll leave well alone. The open world will set challenges and hide collectibles in all its corners, so exploration is prioritised here to secure the swishiest ride.
Once the sun sets, players will compete in illegal street races to boost their rep. As wins stack up, the heat and rep will increase, but the time in the limelight will come at a price. Police will hunt down notorious players and won’t let go of the chase until the car is off the road, one way or another. Make it to a hideout or garage and cool off, before taking to the streets again.
As for the customisation, SpeedCards from Payback are out, and upgrades will be sourced from top street-racing performances by day and by night. Moreover, there will be the NFS Heat Studio app, which will allow players to customise their car from the app at launch.
Need for Speed: Heat will launch on November 8 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Watch the gameplay trailer below.
