On Tuesday, developer Treyarch announced in a Reddit post that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will receive new multiplayer content on August 6, as part of the next phase of Operation Apocalypse Z.

Pandemic will be a new mode for Blackout players. This will possibly add a more competitive angle to the team-based battle royale game, as ‘the rules have changed from “last squad standing” to “last survivors on Earth against an endless swarm of undead at the end of the world.”’

The Infected mode will return as Infected: Final Stand, and will force players to adapt to continually changing gameplay mechanics, though what these could be is left unsaid.

Also coming to Blackout are updates such as the sidecar Motorcycle, new weapons, wall buys, enemy types and easter eggs from Zombies. There will be new competitive challenges for Alpha Omega; 30 rounds of contests for players to prove their skill in the ‘Duck and Cover’ Gauntlet.

Lastly, the Black Market will get new Contraband rewards, namely an Ultra Weapon Bribe, new Epic Outfits, Reactive Camo and more, while the Contract Reward rate is increasing to one Normal Contract with a Reserve Case reward daily.

More information will be released next week, but for now, fans can tune in to the Modern Warfare multiplayer live stream today to learn how killstreaks will work in the newest game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
