Warner Bros. has just announced that Injustice 2, which isn’t even out yet, is going to have an eSports championship series with a total prize pool of $600,000. Registration is open now.

As a comparison, prize pools for big League of Legends or DoTA tournaments can exceed several million. For the uninitiated, when we say ‘total prize pool’ it doesn’t mean that the top prize is $600,000, but that all the prizes accoss the different series’ add up to that.

The Liga Latina series, for Latin America, has a pool of $5k; Path to Pro, for European fans who can’t participate in the full pro series, has one of $20k; the Gamestop Hometown Heroes does the same for US players, with a pool of $5k; finally the Injustice 2 Pro Series 2017 scoops up $300,000+. All four brackets are presented by PS4, and feed into the Grand Finals to take place in Autumn.

The series’ start kicking off in a couple of weeks (Path to Pro, the first, starts on May 20). The Pro Series goes on until September 17. Blurb from the press release below:

The Injustice 2 Pro Series kicks off on the 26th of May broadcast live on Twitch, with a four-month online and offline season drilling down to the top 16 players from around the world. The 16 finalists from across North America, Europe and Latin America will advance to the Injustice 2 Pro Series Finals for a throw-down. The Injustice 2 Pro Series Finals will take place on the 17th of September in Los Angeles.

Injustice 2 is out on May 16 for PS4 and Xbox One.
