Reputable Halo leaker, grunt.api, has reaffirmed that a new Halo game coming to the PS5 will be revealed this week. As relayed by reporter Rebs Gaming on X, grunt simply posted an image of the PS5 logo, which is their way of “re-confirming that a new Halo game, specifically the one being announced on Friday, is coming to PlayStation 5”.
A reveal on Friday makes sense as it is the Halo World Championships. No announcement is official, but Halo Studios has teased “sharing more about what [they’ve] been working on”.
While Halo on PS5 would’ve been unfathomable a few years ago, now it would make a lot of sense as Xbox has already brought a few exclusives to PlayStation such as Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon, and Gears of War. Microsoft Flight Simulator is officially on its way to PlayStation, too, and NateTheHate claims Starfield is coming to PS5 in 2026.
Halo Games Coming to PS5
A reputable leaker has recently said they “can confirm” a Halo Combat Evolved remake is coming to PS5. However, there’s also rumors about a new multiplayer live-service game compared to Fortnite.
According to Rebs Gaming (as relayed by The Game Post), this multiplayer game is a stand-alone experience. While Rebs Gaming claims there’s “No mentions of it being a battle royale or other specifics,” they state that “Its live service component is like Fortnite”.
This multiplayer game will focus on an evolving ecosystem as well as receive seasonal updates and events. As for the Combat Evolved remake, that is being worked on separately and is using a hybrid of the Unreal Engine 5 and modified Reach engine.
Both the Combat Evolved remake and multiplayer game are expected to release in 2026. Assuming they are both announced at the Halo World Championships as expected, each of them could be touted for the PS5. We just have to wait a little longer to see.
