GP2X.co.uk has announced that the updated version of the GP2X, the GP2X-F200 will be shipping in mid October, priced £119.99.

The updated version of the versatile handheld will sport a touch screen, an enhanced digital d-pad, a more robust white case and a new firmware to make full use of the touch screen.

Included in this firmware is a port of Mplayer, MP3/OGG player, Picture viewer and Ebook reader plus five bundled games.

The GP2X has sold over 30,000 units in the UK since its launch in 2005 and its popularity is largely down to being the only open source games console and the ability to run Linux. This has lead to thousands of software ports including Emulators such as MAME.

The GP2X-F200 will ship in mid October at a retail price of £119.99. For more info and a £5 pre-order discount head over to gp2x.co.uk.
