Epic Games has revealed the first details on the upcoming Annex multiplayer mode to be included in the imminent Gears of War patch. The new mode will require teams to take control of and hold key locations on the map, gaining points as they do so.

The key location will change throughout the game with only one active at any one time. Once the points available from the active location have been exhausted the game will select another and both teams will scramble to the new location to gain control.

Up to 60 points can be gathered from each control point and games can be set with victory targets between 120 and 480 points.

All this information comes from the Gears of War website which was later pulled, with Microsoft claiming the page was put online in error. The page revealed an April 9 release date for the patch, but Microsoft says that the date might change.
