D3Publisher of Europe has today announced plans to publish the latest game from Japanese development team Treasure. Bangai-O Spirits, a blend of fast-paced shooter and puzzler genres, will be released for Nintendo DS in August.
Bangai-O Spirits is a re-imagination of the ’90s cult classic Bangai-O and promises addictive shooter gameplay with strategic and tactical elements. The game will also feature competitive multiplayer modes for 1-4 players, a level editor tool and the ability to transfer data among DS systems using sound – a technology Treasure is calling Sound Load.
Sound Load will make it possible for players to share level data via the use of sound and the DS microphone. The level data is first converted to a sound file, which is then played through the DS speaker. This sound is then interpreted through the DS microphone.
It will also be possible upload and share sound files of level data on the internet. Additionally the Sound Load tech will be used to share high score and gameplay footage.
Bangai-O Spirits is scheduled for release across Europe this August.
