Earlier this week SEGA finally took the lid of its most poorly kept secret; a new NiGHTS game is heading to the Wii. Details accompanying the announcement were sparse, with talk of Wii Remote control and seven dream worlds to explore all we had to go on.

It’s now been revealed, by way of the game’s official website, that the game will feature something SEGA is calling Persona Masks. These masks will give the player new shape-shifting capabilities opening up new ways in which the dream world can be explored.

NiGHTS will be able to turn into a dragon making him resistant to wind effects, a dolphin to enable exploration under water and a rocket making it possible to travel at supersonic speeds.

The website also brings first details on the game’s Wii Connect 24 features, with friends able to exchange items and the game world’s scenery able to change according to real-world seasons gathered from the Forecast Channel.

NiGHTS: Journey into Dreams is scheduled for release on Wii in winter 2007.
