Konami has announced that Castlevania: Curse of Darkness will launch for the PlayStation 2 in Fall 2005, marking the series’ second appearance on the console. Curse of Darkness introduces players to an entirely new character and story.

You play Hector, a student of Dracula, looking for a more normal life after becoming disillusioned with his mentor’s ideals. Due to Hector’s departure, Dracula is left vunerable and is killed in battle. Another of Dracula’s students, Isaac, believes Hector to be the cause of their mentor’s death and becomes Hector’s formidable enemy.

The action packed game takes places over an expansive world, ranging from beautiful environments to the once great master’s dingy castle. Armed with Devil Forgery abilities, Hector will be able to make allies, who will help him defeat the enemies he encounters and assist him with new powers. Hector’s strength and abilities will also increase as you progress through the game, much like the gameplay found in Symphony of the Night.

We will have more on the game later in the year.
