Portrait of Ruin gives players the ability to control two characters: Vampire hunter Jonathan Morris; and Charlotte Orlean, a girl with magical abilities. Working together the pair must stop a plan to resurrect Dracula’s Castle and unleash a reign of evil on the world.

The game is set during World War II, with thousands of lost souls wandering the earth in search of salvation. So desperate are the spirits to escape the limbo in which they exist, they seek to rebuild Dracula’s Castle under leadership from a pair of evil vampire sisters.

Fans of the series will be pleased to hear that Portrait of Ruin retains the same 2D platform gaming for which the series has gained much acclaim. As you play through the game, the player is able to freely switch between Jonathan and Charlotte, and must make use of each character’s unique abilities.

Jonathan is skilled with weapons, and Charlotte is able to cast spells. In addition to these abilities, both characters are able to perform all-new Summon attacks, raising demons to assist them in battle against more than 100 different adversaries.

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin is scheduled for release on the Nintendo DS in November.
