DICE has released an extended gameplay trailer for upcoming FPS, Battlefield 3, offering fans the chance to check out several minutes of hugely impressive in-game action.

The video is the first in a new “Fault Line” gameplay series. Episode 1 sees the squad in a bad part of town.

The second episode will be released March 16.

Battlefield 3 is scheduled for release this autumn on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Call of Duty has the clear fanbase advantage, but whatever Activision has planned for 2011 is going to have to be pretty special to match-up to the quality of visuals offered by Battlefield 3.

We can’t see DICE’s title coming out on top, but if the game lives up to huge early promise we could see the first signs of a swing in power in the FPS market.
